Site 21
Site 21 is a relatively small site located just east of the
Bell Field rock alignment. During the 1997 Plantation Archaeological
Survey, one test pit on the 40-foot grid contained a wrought nail.
A more intensive sampling program was scheduled for the 1999 survey
season. Test pits on 20-foot centers were placed around the positive
test pit. A number of positive test pits were identified and the
20-foot grid was expanded. A total of 29 positive test pits were
identified and 59 artifacts were recovered. The assemblage was
domestic in nature, consisting of refined ceramics including pearlware,
creamware, and British Brown stoneware. Other artifacts found
at Site 20 include wrought nails and
a wrought spike.
