Monticello's Kitchen, which is now part of an ongoing restoration

The Kitchen and other "dependencies" (now undergoing a major restoration ) such as the Wine Cellar and Smokehouse, were located in basement-level wings. Slaves carried food through a covered passageway and then up stairs that led to the hallway outside the Dining Room.
