Historical Notes: This marble top was one of four that returned to America with Jefferson's household furnishings in 1790. It is the only one made of Brescia marble and also the sole top to survive with its perforated gallery intact. The skirt, a simple drum, is supported by square, slightly tapering legs terminating in wooden rollers affixed to the legs with metal collars. The table has no carved ornamentation of any kind.
