TJE Original Title:
David Stone

David Stone (1770-1818) was a Democratic Republican U.S. Representative (1799-1801), Senator (1801-1807, 1813-1814), governor (1808-1810), state legislator, lawyer, and judge from North Carolina.

Stone was a member of the House of Representatives during the election of 1800 and voted for Thomas Jefferson when that election was forced into the House. Stone supported Jefferson in repealing the Sedition Act and Samuel Chase's impeachment.

There are only a handful of letters known to have been exchanged between Stone and Jefferson.[1]
