Randolph to Nicholas Trist of 5 June 1823, the transcription cited on this webpage contained the word "place" in the last sentence. The correct transcription is "palace." The correct transcription appears on the PTJRS Family Letters website and was checked against a copy of the manuscript original by Jeff Looney, editor of the PTJRS. Thus the last phrase of the sentence now correctly reads as "...and do not intend to give it up to any thing but the formible rats which have not yet found out this fairy palace." | 3-column/cuddy/dome/dome room/escape/grandchildren/granddaughters/hideaway/House and Gardens/ingenuity/privacy/retreat/rotunda | current revision (published) |
