Glenmore was an estate opposite Milton, near Shadwell. In 1805, it was sold to Jane Cary Randolph, Thomas Mann Randolph's sister. In 1813, Louis Girardin (1771-1825), who wrote a continuation of Burk's History of Virginia with some assistance from Thomas Jefferson, purchased the property. It was later owned by Dr. Thomas Watkins, who treated Jefferson in his retirement years.

Today, Glenmore is a gated community and country club.
