Monticello in Transition
Over the past two hundred plus years, Jefferson's beloved Monticello has under gone many transitions. The house has not been a static building, but has changed -- both in Jefferson's day and in subsequent years -- undergoing renovations and restorations, surviving war and neglect. Today Monticello is the the only home in the United States recognized by the United Nations as a World Heritage Site.
