Site 24

Site 24 is represented solely by cut and wrought nails identified through metal detection. Test pits excavated on both a 40-foot and 20-foot interval failed to recover any artifacts. Based upon the presence of wrought nails, the site most likely dates to the Jefferson period. The lack of domestic artifacts and lack of Jefferson documents pointing to anybody living in the area, the site most likely represents an agricultural support building -- possibly a barn, corn crib or tobacco barn.
