A Butterfly Expedition

Butterfly diversity is an excellent barometer for ecosystem health. Join Devin Floyd for a butterfly walk that will explore the wonderful diversity of species found on Monticello’s biologically varied landscape. We’ll catch and observe butterflies, learn to identify the butterflies we see, and learn about the environments that support them. Devin will explore a wide array of subjects, including native plant gardening, forest succession, geology and soils, seasonal change, and human land use, while demonstrating how each component impacts butterflies
