Montalto Tours (May-October)
Get the grand view of Jefferson's plantation and the surrounding area from Montalto, the neighboring mountain that rises 410 feet above Monticello. On these 60-minute tours, you can learn how Jefferson used (and planned to use) this prominent feature of the landscape from one of our staff guides, walk the summit, and enjoy the sweeping vistas.
Prices
All tickets: $13.00
Prices do not include service fee ($1.50 max per ticket) for ordering online. All visitors, regardless of age, must have a ticket to take this tour.
Schedule
Montalto tours are conducted once daily at 1 p.m., May 1 - October 31.
NOTE: If you are planning to also take a House Tour, please be advised that the Montalto Tour generally lasts approximately 60 minutes and the House Tour lasts approximately 30 minutes. When choosing your tour times, please allow ample time to experience both tours, including approximately 30 minutes in travel time between the tours.
Making Reservations
If you would like to schedule your tour for a specific time, you can make reservations online by clicking the "Buy Tickets" button above. Tickets can be purchased online up to two hours in advance of the scheduled time. We ask that you plan to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled tour time.
