What does it mean that Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence and yet enslaved over 600 people over the course of his lifetime? Who are the people and families that he enslaved? A whole team of researchers and curators have worked to answer those questions and more in the exhibit, "Paradox of Liberty: Slavery at Jefferson’s Monticello.” It shares the history of six families who, along with others, were enslaved at Monticello. Join this livestream to learn about the creation of “Paradox of Liberty” and a recently-completed initiative to digitize this important exhibition.
