I am a writer, currently doing a book on the history of brewing and beer in the Charlottesville and Blue Ridge region. I am very interested in Thomas Jefferson's role in beer and brewing, including the fundamental work done by the women and enslaved people at Monticello and Shadwell. I have completed one book, published by History Press, on beer and brewing (past and present) in Richmond.

Kristie: I enjoy your posts. I am a writer and am working on my second beer book, this one about the history and current scene on beer and brewing in the Charlottesville region. I've done a bunch of research on Jefferson, the domestic brewing at Monticello (from Martha to Peter Hemings) and the cultivation of hops by slaves such as Bagwell and Goliah. I'd like to know more about these areas and am hoping you can help. I'm planning a visit within the week to see Mulberry Row and the dependencies. Any thoughts, tips or resources? Lee Graves
