Browallia americana

Browallia, also called Amethyst Flower or Bush Violet, is a tender, tropical perennial grown as an annual, which self-sows easily in the garden. The tiny flowers are rich amethyst blue with dark eyes smudged white, and plants will produce an airy mass of long-flowered blossoms throughout the summer. Named after Johan Browallius (1707-1755), a Swedish botanist, physician, and bishop, this South American species was introduced into cultivation in 1735.
