Often called Winter Daffodil, Fall Daffodil, Lillies-of-the-Field, or Yellow Autumn Crocus, Sternbergia lutea is a rare member of the Amaryllis family. Growing about six to ten inches, they produce crocus-like yellow flowers that often last through the fall. Although not historically associated with Jefferson, they are a precious late-season treat at Monticello.
