“$25 of each ticket represents a tax-deductible gift to support Monticello.
Join Peggy Cornett, Monticello’s Curator of Plants, on a sometimes surprising and always entertaining journey to discover Thomas Jefferson’s top ten favorite plants.
The founding father filled the Monticello landscape with native species and the latest novelties from abroad, from tulips to tulip poplars and caracallas to cardinal flowers. “The greatest service which can be rendered any country is to add a useful plant to its culture,” opined Jefferson, whose passion for flowers, trees, fruits and vegetables knew no bounds.
This ticket includes informal tours of Monticello’s gardens and grounds prior to the talk, and a reception with fine Virginia wines and heavy hors d'oeuvres after the talk.
