Groundskeeper. Monticello seeks a Groundskeeper to maintain grounds to a high horticultural standard. Typical duties include mowing, weed-eating, raking and vacuuming leaves, plowing and shoveling snow, spraying weeds, pruning, use of the chainsaw, fertilizing, planting, mulching, and resurfacing gravel walkways. Knowledge of safe use, operation and preventive maintenance of common mechanical equipment, experience with tools to perform basic repairs, and knowledge of common grounds maintenance techniques is essential. Seasonal Gardener (Temporary). Monticello seeks a Gardener to assist in the care of our Fruit, Flower, and Vegetable gardens to ensure a professional horticultural presentation and to preserve a historic plant collection. The successful individual will have a basic understanding of horticultural and grounds maintenance principles and the ability to safely operate power equipment. Position requires extensive manual labor in extreme hot and cold weather conditions. Work hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday – Friday through November. Open until filled.
