"The ideals and values of Thomas Jefferson are at the heart of American democracy and the principal reason for the ascendancy of the United States. It is incumbent upon all of us, who cherish our freedom and strive to assure individual liberty for all peoples, to preserve Thomas Jefferson's legacy."

Bequests

James L. Dick copy of 1805 Rembrandt Peale portrait of JeffersonOne of the simplest ways to make a gift today to Monticello is to name the Thomas Jefferson Foundation, Inc. (Federal Tax ID Number: 54-0505959), as a beneficiary in a will, trust, retirement plan, or life insurance policy. A donor may leave specific amount of money, a particular asset, or a percentage of his/her estate to the Foundation. For bequests of $100,000 or more, the Foundation will create a fund named for the donor. Such bequests are a lasting legacy and will be recognized by the Foundation in perpetuity.
