Join us for the Montalto Challenge, a 1.776 mile race up Jefferson's high mountain with spectacular views of Charlottesville and the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Reimagined to mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026, the course ascends 500 feet and covers 1.776 miles to the summit of Montalto. Participants and spectators alike will be rewarded with breathtaking views of Monticello, Charlottesville, and the Blue Ridge Mountains at one of the most beautiful finish lines of any race in the country.
At the conclusion of the race, awards will be presented by age group. Photo opportunities as well as light refreshments will be available.
Registration is closed. Race day registration is not available.
RACE DAY SCHEDULE: | |

| 6:30 AM | Spectators/Media last shuttle to top of Montalto |
| 7:00 AM | Race begins |
| 8:15 AM | Ceremony starts at Montalto with light refreshments |
| 8:30 AM | Ceremony ends and guests shuttle down |
| 9:00 AM | Last shuttle departs to the visitor center |

Race Day Info
- Early bib pickup will be available Saturday, June 27, from 3pm - 5pm in the lower level of the visitor center (near ADA parking)
- Day-of bib pickup is on Sunday, June 28, from 5:45am - 6:45am at the visitor center main entrance
- Tickets include a custom 2026 Montalto Challenge t-shirt - please select your shirt size on the registration page
- Participants and spectators will park at the visitor center
- The race will begin at the visitor center and end at the top of Montalto
- Please, no strollers or pets
