Monticello will mark the University of Virginia's Founder's Day and the 271st anniversary of Thomas Jefferson's birth with ceremonies on the grounds. James H. Webb, Jr., former U.S. Senator from Virginia, has been a combat Marine, a counsel in the Congress, an assistant secretary of defense and Secretary of the Navy, an Emmy-award winning journalist and a filmmaker, and is the author of 10 books, is the recipient of the 2014 Thomas Jefferson Foundation Medal in Citizen Leadership and will speak at a special ceremony on the West Lawn at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014 (two days before Jefferson's actual birthday).
