Lewis' Prairie Flax
Linum perenne ‘Lewisii'
A small perennial noted in 1806 during the Lewis and Clark Expedition and named for Meriwether Lewis.
Clear blue, funnel-shaped flowers bloom on slender, 2'-3' stems in early summer. Lewis and Clark recorded seeing this desirable perennial along the Missouri River in 1806. It was named Linum lewisii after Capt. Meriwether Lewis by German-American botanist Frederick Pursh.
