White Rose
Rosa alba 'Maxima'
An old European variety with pure white blooms and grey-green foliage, White Rose is extremely cold-hardy and disease resistant.
This rose was grown in Europe by at least the fifteenth century. Also known as 'Jacobite Rose', 'White Rose of York', and 'Great Double White', it is thought to be a cross between Rosa canina and Rosa gallica. Pure white, very double blossoms form upright clusters of 6 to 8 extremely fragrant blooms in late spring. Shrub grows to 6 feet high and 4 feet wide with healthy gray-green foliage.
