Monticello Teacher Institute Application Opens
A weeklong summer fellowship for American history teachers at Monticello, with research at the Jefferson Library, scholar talks, tours, and collaborative workshops. Lodging, meals, and a stipend are provided.

Each summer, Monticello welcomes American history teachers for a weeklong, immersive fellowship on the mountaintop. Through research at the Jefferson Library, tours, conversations with scholars, and collaborative workshops, Monticello Teacher Institute fellows deepen their understanding of Jefferson, slavery, and the early republic. Each fellow also develops a lesson plan to share with classrooms everywhere. Fellows return to their schools as ambassadors, bringing Monticello’s stories to their students and colleagues.
