Join Monticello for Home Educators’ Day as we welcome homeschool families for a day of interactive learning and exploration. Through hands-on activities across the mountaintop, visitors will discover Thomas Jefferson’s role in early American history, explore Monticello as an architectural landmark, and learn about the lives and skilled labor of the enslaved community who shaped this plantation landscape.
Families can take a Family-Friendly Tour of the first floor of the main house or explore the mountaintop with a Grounds Ticket. Both options include access to exhibits in the Visitor Center, educational activities on the West Lawn and Mulberry Row, and opportunities to meet with Monticello staff including archaeologists, curators, oral historians and more! Created with homeschool learners in mind, Home Educators’ Day offers engaging experiences for a variety of ages, interests, and learning styles.
Please arrive at Monticello's David M. Rubenstein Visitor Center 15 minutes prior to the time on your ticket. At that time, you will enter our security screening and then ride a shuttle, or walk approximately 1/2 mile up a trail, to the mountaintop historic site.
Participants should arrive with appropriate clothing for the weather and bring sunscreen, bug repellent, and water bottles.
