Monticello Holiday Classic 5K

LOGISTICS FOR RACERS AND SPECTATORS

Enjoy a family-friendly and holiday festive atmosphere at the Thomas Jefferson Visitor Center before and after the race. Bring a camera, dress up in holiday gear and make sure to dress warmly!

Parking and Check In: All racers and spectators should park at the Thomas Jefferson Visitor Center. Check in begins at 7 am on race day.

Registration: There is always room for more racers, so please encourage your family and friends to participate. On-line pre-registration is open until noon on Wednesday, November 28. Race-day, walk-up registrations will be $35 and will begin at 7:00 am on Saturday.

Race Course: Starts at the East Walk of Monticello and finishes at the Thomas Jefferson Visitor Center and Smith Education Center. Participants will race around Jefferson’s original roundabouts, through his historic gardens, and then race down the mountaintop, with the final segment on the popular Saunders-Monticello trail, finishing at the Visitor Center. The course features spectacular panoramic views and just might be one of the fastest 5K venues in Central Virginia. The Deck the Halls Kids’ Dash course features a quarter mile loop around the West Lawn of Monticello.

Starting Times: The Kids’ Dash begins at 8 a.m. and the 5K starts at 8:30 a.m. Both events start at the Mountaintop of Monticello. A shuttle will transport all participants and spectators to the Mountaintop start.

Prizes: The 5K prize for top male and female finishers is a handcrafted Monticello wreath. Awards will also go to the top three finishers in each age group. All 5K finishers will receive a festive winter scarf ($10 value).
