  • Park and explore the visitor center

    Parking is free, and the visitor center has exhibits to check out before you head up the mountain. Be sure to see the large bronze model of the plantation, complete with miniature forests and fields, and the exhibits about Jefferson's agricultural operations.

  • Take a Highlights Tour

    Walk or ride the shuttle to the historic mountaintop and enjoy a tour of the rooms on the first floor of the house. Be sure to check out Jefferson's small greenhouse attached to his personal suite. If you're short on time, use a Grounds Ticket for access to all exterior areas and exhibits.

  • Take a Gardens and Grounds Tour

    Explore Monticello's restored flower and vegetable gardens on a guided Gardens and Grounds Tour. Hear stories about Jefferson's botanical experiments and ask our expert staff questions about your favorite plants. Included with all admission.

  • Relax at the Café

    Catch your breath at the Monticello Café in the visitor center. With seasonal menus, desserts, and outdoor seating, it's the perfect spot to refuel. 

  • Stock up for your home garden

    Plant history at home with heritage seed varieties or live plants, available in the garden section of the Shop at the visitor center.
