Where is the dinner going to be held? Is it at a different location than Monticello?
The dinner will be held on Montalto, the high mountain that overlooks Monticello.  The site is not open to the public, so attending this dinner allows you and your guests the rare opportunity to visit the beautifully restored house and enjoy panoramic views.
How do I get to the dinner? Where do I park?
When you arrive, follow signs for event parking at the David M. Rubenstein Visitor Center. At the Visitor Center you’ll see a dinner check-in table. Staff members will be there to guide you. A Monticello shuttle will take you and your guests up to Montalto. The shuttles will run continuously throughout the evening and will bring you back to the Visitor Center at the end of the night so you can retrieve your car.
What time does the dinner begin at Montalto?
The wine and cheese reception begins at 6:00 p.m. The dinner buffet will open at 6:30 p.m. We recommend you allow 15-20 minutes to park your car and ride the shuttle.
Will I have a private table at the dinner?
Your entire group will be seated together; however, tables may be shared depending on the number in your reservation.  You will receive your table assignment when you arrive at the dinner.
What types of drinks will be available?
We’ll offer a selection of Virginia wines and ale to guests who are at least 21 years old. Virginia law requires that we check your I.D. Soft drinks will also be available.
Can I arrive at 7:45 p.m. and still get dinner?
We encourage guests to arrive at Montalto between 6:00 and 6:30 p.m. We recommend you allow 15-20 minutes to park and ride the shuttle. By 7:45 p.m., only dessert will be served.
What time does the event end?
The event will end at 8:00 p.m. or shortly afterwards.  Shuttles will take guests from Montalto to the Visitor Center parking area.
Do I need to leave a tip?
The price of your dinner ticket includes food, beverage, tax, and gratuity, so you do not need to leave a tip.
What is the dress code?
We recommend dressy casual or garden party attire.  If you are taking a tour of Monticello beforehand, you will walk on some gravel paths, so comfortable shoes are recommended.
How do I take the tour of Monticello?
Tours of Monticello should be reserved in advance by calling 434.984.9800. Certain times will sell out, so please call as soon as you know your schedule.
Are dinner reservations refundable?
Dinner reservations are non-refundable.
If I still have questions about the event, who can I call?
Please call Rebecca Klaff in the Events Department.  She can be reached at 434.984.9809.
