Outside the House
Keeping Monticello, the house, functioning required a significant amount of infrastructure, such as ice houses and cisterns, located physically outside the main building. Many premier architectural features, like Jefferson's Garden Pavilion, exist as stand-alone structures. To fully experience the house, one must go outside.
