Come join us for a day at Monticello to learn more about Jefferson’s relationship with Lewis and Clark! We’ll join experienced guides for private tours of Monticello, highlighting Jefferson’s relationship with Lewis and Clark, sharing details of their planning for that landmark voyage of discovery. To quote William Clark, Jefferson was “that great character the Main Spring” of the expedition.
Picnic lunches will be provided by the Café at Monticello, before a private viewing at the Jefferson Library of Lewis and Clark-related letters, documents, and a talk by Monticello’s Shannon Historian Gaye Wilson. Members of the Meriwether and Lewis families will be with us for the full journey!
Mostly indoors but some outdoor walking. Participants will drive themselves from Monticello to the Jefferson Library, one third of a mile from Monticello.
