01 Introduction

This panel introduces Mulberry Row, the main plantation street on Jefferson’s mountaintop. Dozens of enslaved and hired white people lived and worked in its more than 20 dwellings, workshops, and sheds.

Landscape of Slavery: Mulberry Row at Monticello is an outdoor exhibition consisting of 11 interpretation stations along the 1,300-foot long site.
