Jefferson’s Stables

$55 Per person

$25 of each ticket represents a tax-deductible gift to support Monticello.

Thursday, September 22, 2016 - 6:00pm to 7:45pm

Romulus, Remus and Peggy Waffington were all horses owned by Jefferson, but what else do we know about Monticello’s stables and the man who used them? Join us to learn about Jefferson’s private and public stables, now a major research and restoration site for Monticello. Hear about the people who worked there, including William Maddox, one of the stonemasons, and trusted enslaved workers Jupiter Evans and Wormley Hughes, who cared for the horses.

This walking tour will include the Mulberry Row 1809 stables and the North Dependency.

Also offered on September 29.
