The Trail at Monticello

NOTICE: The Saunders-Monticello Trail will remain closed from the Visitor Center as we assess damage to the trail from recently fallen trees.  The lower portion of the Saunders-Monticello Trail will remain open up to the fourth boardwalk.  Please enjoy the Pond Trail, 7 miles of Rustic Trails, and Secluded Farm.  We are sorry for this inconvenience and will have an update as soon as possible.

The Saunders-Monticello Trail and surrounding 370 acres is Central Virginia's most popular park.

With native hardwood forest, deep ravines and spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the trail winds its way toward Monticello and back in a very manageable four miles. A maximum grade of 5% keeps it completely accessible to walkers, cyclists and those in wheelchairs.
