Thomas Jefferson’s landholdings in Albemarle County, Virginia, totaled some 5,000 acres. Measuring approximately eight square miles, the grounds at Monticello extend far beyond what our visitors normally experience on a trip here – including wooded hills, two small mountains, rolling pastures and streams.
