Students from Kindergarten through grade twelve can send their questions to Thomas Jefferson (channeled through a cadre of Monticello's Jefferson scholars) via this link, "Ask Thomas Jefferson." It is a wonderful teaching resource, and I am continually impressed and encouraged by the curiosity our nation's children express about Thomas Jefferson, and also by the level of sophistication of many of these letters.

Dear Mr.Jefferson,
How did it feel to sign the declaration of independence and get freedom from Britain for you and your family?
Sincerely,
