Learning Experience Options

Highlights Tour (On-Site Learning Experience)

This 45-minute guided experience includes first floor spaces in Thomas Jefferson’s home, the West Lawn, and the South Wing. You’ll learn about Jefferson and his vision for America, the realities of slavery on the Monticello plantation, and the mountaintop’s iconic architecture. The number of groups taken each day is limited so please be prepared to make your request early and include additional dates.

Monticello Gardens and Grounds (On-Site Learning Experience)

By utilizing text panels, reader rails, an app, and a scavenger hunt, students enjoy self-guided exploration of the North and South Wings, Cellars, Mulberry Row's reconstructed buildings, the All-Weather passage, the Life of Sally Hemings exhibit, and the gardens. Guests can use their smartphones to read QR codes that will direct them to dynamic content about these spaces, including videos and interviews. Access to the first floor of the house is not included in this option.

Simplify your day and eat on the mountain!

Our Farm Table café has debuted a box lunch menu designed especially for student groups! Order ahead of your scheduled visit and lunches will be ready for you when you arrive.
