This project explores the complexities of allegiance during the American Revolution. Vermont and the northern frontier are the focus in an examination of the motives behind the shifting allegiances. Different factions arose and the Vermonters struggled for validation to their land and localism encouraged separatism movements even while engaged in revolution.
