Check out this year's activities and offerings!
Join us for Home Educators' Day as we invite the homeschool community to come and engage with this important part of history through a variety of activities at Monticello. Students of all ages can explore a variety of topics related to the landscape and the lives of those who resided at the Monticello plantation through a number of engaging indoor and outdoor hands-on activity stations.
Visitors will learn about the impact of Thomas Jefferson as an influential figure in early American history, about Monticello as an iconic architectural feat, and about the lives and skills of the enslaved community who worked to shape this landscape in many critical ways.
Explore the first floor of the main house and our exhibits in the visitor center, do special activities on the West Lawn and Mulberry Row, hike miles of outdoor trails, learn about ongoing research and new discoveries from Monticello’s archaeologists, and more.
Light meals and refreshments are available for purchase at the Monticello Farm Table café.
The Shop at Monticello provides shopping opportunities for books and other learning materials related to the exploration of the worlds of Thomas Jefferson.
To help you plan for your visit, we wish to highlight some of our increased safety measures.
- As of May 28, fully vaccinated guests are no longer required to wear facial coverings when outdoors at Monticello. All guests age 5 and up must continue to wear a face covering when indoors, and when on shuttle buses.
- Bags may not exceed 12" x 6" x 12". Exceptions to this policy will be made for all medically necessary items after proper inspection.
- Food & Drink: Lunches and snacks are available for purchase on site and can be enjoyed at outdoor tables outside our café, Monticello Farm Table, or at our picnic area.
