Available to attend in-person or as a virtual event, this lecture and recipe demonstration explores the history of one of the world's all-time favorite comfort foods, Macaroni and Cheese. Includes an in-depth look at one of the most recognizable connoisseurs of macaroni and cheese - Thomas Jefferson, who, together with his enslaved chef James Hemings, is often credited with the introduction and popularization of the dish into the United States. Featuring culinary historian Karima Moyer-Nocchi, Jefferson descendant and Monticello Public Relations and Community Engagement Office Gayle Jessup White, and Monticello Farm Table Executive Chef David Bastide.
Included in the price of admission during regularly scheduled hours. These daily guided outdoor tours focus on the experiences of the enslaved people who lived and labored on the Monticello plantation.
Guests can meet Thomas Jefferson (as portrayed by veteran historical actor-interpreter Bill Barker) in person, Tuesday through Saturday during regularly scheduled hours.
